At Seijsener, we are proud of our latest innovation in sustainable energy solutions for the recreation sector. At Resort Oysterduinen in Yerseke (former Zon en Zee campsite), we have created a system that provides 70 recreational homes with green energy, independent of weather conditions and grid congestion. The result is a brand new future-proof holiday park in Zeeland's nature.
Thanks to smart technology, the holiday park can now optimally meet its own energy needs and are much less dependent on the already overcrowded electricity network. This not only ensures a stable energy supply, but also contributes to more sustainable business operations.
This project shows how we at Seijsener are constantly looking for ways to help our customers enjoy sustainable and efficient energy solutions. It's more than just a technical upgrade; it's a blueprint for the future of sustainable recreation.
Our client approached us with the request to design a modern, future-proof installation that takes into account the network congestion in the region. We saw this as a challenging opportunity that we started with great enthusiasm. We have combined our expertise to provide a total package of solutions, ranging from the necessary infrastructure to advanced energy systems.
The foundation of the project is the realization of a fully electrical infrastructure for 70 recreational homes. Despite the fact that we installed two new Stedin 3x80A main connections, this was not yet sufficient to absorb peak moments in energy consumption. This limitation forms the basis for our innovative solution.
The heart of this solution is an EOS (energy storage system) with two 425 kWh batteries each, linked to 102 solar panels. Thanks to smart peak shaving technology and an Energy Management System (EMS) can optimally meet the recreation company's own energy needs and reduce its dependence on the power grid.
To better understand the benefits of this system, we spoke to Rory Sanders, Seijsener's project manager who was responsible for the realization of the project.
“The battery storage system offers a way to optimize energy consumption and reduce dependence on the traditional grid,” explains Rory. “Especially in the recreational sector, we are seeing major peaks in consumption. Thanks to the implementation of battery storage, our clients can absorb these peaks themselves, leading to lower energy costs and more control over their energy management.”
For recreational entrepreneurs, the system offers even more advantages. “It's essential that guests have a stable and reliable energy supply at all times of the day,” says Rory. In addition, the system contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions, which is increasingly becoming a selling point for recreation entrepreneurs who attach great importance to sustainability.”
One of the most innovative aspects of this project is our Energy Management System. This system continuously monitors energy consumption and energy production at the resort. It ensures peak shaving, which means that it absorbs peaks in energy consumption without putting an extra burden on the electricity grid.
Rory emphasizes the importance of this: “A battery storage system ensures that the sustainably generated energy is not lost and can be used later. This makes solar energy much more valuable, because the generated electricity can also be used when the sun is not shining. For our clients, this means higher energy independence and fewer fluctuations in energy costs, which contributes to a more stable business model.”
Of course, the team also faced challenges. “Installing a battery storage system at this scale is always a complex operation, especially when working with the solar infrastructure at the same time,” says Rory. “Nevertheless, thanks to our experience and cooperation with various parties, such as the network operator and contractors, we were able to solve the challenges efficiently. Good preparation and communication with the client were crucial here.”
Looking to the future, Rory still sees many opportunities: “With these battery storage systems, we prepare recreational entrepreneurs for further electrification, such as the growing demand for electric vehicle charging stations. In the long run, we will be able to integrate even more functions with the same technology, such as smart energy management systems that can dynamically optimize both the supply and demand of energy.”
Rory concludes: “This solution is really more than just a battery; it's an investment in future-proof energy management. With the rise of electric mobility and the importance of sustainable business operations, we want to give our clients the best tools to stay ahead. This project at Camping Zon & Zee is an excellent example of how Seijsener contributes to today's problems, such as network congestion.

A modern drinking water system has also been built, with individual connections for the holiday home. And because we know how important good connectivity is for modern holidaymakers, an advanced fiber network has been installed for high-speed internet and crystal clear TV reception.
