Camping't Weergors - Seijsener Projects

At camping't Weergors, the power consumption grew. And that has consequences for the existing system at the family campsite in Hellevoetsluis. Especially when grid congestion throws a spanner in the works; The grid operator was unable to meet the need for a heavier connection. Co-owner Rob Riedijk looked for a solution and decided to work with batteries

But a system with an increased capacity and also the integration of battery technology requires an adjustment of the overall installation. The most important investment in this regard: The main distributor, once installed in 1979, had to be completely replaced. This is the central point in an electrical installation where the power from the main connection is distributed to different groups.

Has your guests' power consumption increased significantly over the years?

Rob Riedijk: “Especially in the cold months of April and May, the current contracted capital was/is up and running. During the cold evenings, electric heaters peak during the busy periods, such as Easter and the May holidays.”

And couldn't you solve that with your existing installations?

Rob Riedijk: “We did integrate a small 60 kWh battery at an earlier stage to reduce the peak load on the available simultaneous power because, due to grid congestion, there is no room to get more transport power from Stedin.”

At what point did you decide to completely renew your system?

Rob Riedijk: “We replaced the main distributor primarily because of Scope 12, which showed that the current 3 x 250A rail cabinet was not suitable for the theoretically possible expected load when combined use of the generated solar energy (153A) and delivery via the main connection (3 x 250A).

At the same time, we have also made the new main distributor suitable for a larger connection and higher capacity requirements through expansion plans and further electrification. By the way, we have not yet requested the larger connection due to grid congestion and the associated limitation to increase the contracted capacity.”

What is your conclusion after carrying out the entire project?

Riedijk: “Fine, it gives you peace of mind. Here I have to give all the credits to my father Frans Riedijk and, of course, to Seijsener and the long relationship between our companies!”
