Lelystad Haven Marina is increasingly developing into a place where living, recreation and water sports come together in a natural way. The redevelopment of part of the port marked an important step in this direction — with new facilities, smart infrastructure and a clear vision: making life on and around the water possible and attractive.

A port with ambition and realism

During a working visit, it was aptly expressed by deputy Jop Fackeldey:

“Lelystad Haven not only has big plans, but, above all, real plans.”

This approach characterises the development of the port: innovating with vision and with both feet on the ground.

New facilities and refurbishment

In cooperation with De Boer & De Groot Civilege Werken and Hercules Floating Concrete, various adjustments were made in a first phase:

  • Renewal of part of the wave barrier
  • Construction of a spacious passenger jetty on the quay
  • Realization of fixed berths and berths for Houseboats
  • Preparing a new port entrance

A total of 23 permanent berths, 42 passenger seats and 6 Houseboat berths were created. This has laid a firm basis for further expansion and innovation in the coming years.

Living on the water: the Houseboat

An important pillar of this development is the introduction of the Houseboat as a new form of aquatic living.

In cooperation with the marina, residents can now rent or buy a floating vacation home. Unlike a houseboat, a Houseboat is often equipped with (optional) propulsion, so that users can also sail and take trips on inland waterways themselves.

A Houseboat is therefore both a comfortable holiday home and a flexible vessel. And that requires different technical facilities than a standard yacht.

Customized service columns for Houseboats

As a specialist in port design, we developed an all-in-one connection column, specifically tailored to the wishes and requirements of Houseboat users:

  • Electricity (3x25A)
  • Drinking water with a shortcut
  • Wastewater outlet (3/2” with check valve)
  • Optional gas connection
  • TV and radio connection
  • LED lighting

The columns are frost-resistant where necessary and designed for easy, clean and safe connection and disconnection. This way, residents can easily leave and stay comfortably.

Permanent berths also given a new look

In addition to the Houseboat facilities, the permanent berths have also been renewed:

  • Atlantic connection columns with LED lighting, 10A connection, earth leakage protection and kWh meters
  • Stainless steel columns type “Lelystad” with lock (1 per 2 berths)
  • Arctic type drinking water supply with reel and 33 meter hose

Looking ahead: expansion and further development

The existing facilities are just the beginning. In the coming years, dozens of additional Houseboats berths will be added, each with full infrastructure. This further development makes Lelystad Haven a pioneer in aquatic living, where comfort, sustainability and future-orientation come together.

Lelystad Haven proves that innovation on the water is not only possible, but also immediately livable and valuable.

With sophisticated technology and cooperation, we are building a port where freedom, comfort and recreation are central.
